Learn and Play: Activities Await at the 2024 UC Tech Annual Conference!

We've talked a lot about the engaging sessions happening at the 2024 UC Tech Annual Conference, but there is even more fun to be had! Thanks to the planning efforts of our UC Tech Activities Committee, we have a variety of activities for you to participate in.

Live music, free guided tours, prizes, and more... We've put together a list of some activities you won’t want to miss. Remember to use the hashtag #uctech2024 on social media to share your fun experiences with us and fellow attendees!

Date and Time: Sunday (Oct. 27) from 5 – 8 p.m.

Where: UC Davis Health Betty Irene Moore Hall

Unwind at Sunday’s welcome reception with a captivating performance of classic Jazz standards by the Deering Coretet. These talented musicians will infuse each song with their own flair, which will surely make a lively and memorable evening. 

 

 


UC Davis Health Center for Simulation Education Tour

Date and Time: Sunday (Oct. 27) from 5 – 5:30 p.m. AND from 5:30 – 6 p.m.

Where: UC Davis Health Betty Irene Moore Hall

Notes: Check in 15 minutes prior to start time. 30 participants max per tour.

Explore innovative simulation training facilities at the UC Davis Health Center for Simulation, where students engage with four unique environments: home care, ambulatory care, an eight-bed inpatient unit, and a task-training lab. These immersive settings for hands-on practice seamlessly connect classroom knowledge with real-world patient interactions, fostering improved care and outcomes. 

 


Date and Time: Monday (Oct. 28) from 4 – 4:45 p.m. AND Tuesday (Oct.29) from 1:15 – 2 p.m.

Where: UC Davis Mondavi Center Porch (outdoors, near main entrance)

Notes: Closed toes shoes and floor length pants/skirts are MANDATORY, no exceptions. Check-in 15 minutes prior to start time. 49 participants max per tour.

Did you know that the most advanced and sustainable winery, brewery, and food-processing facility in the world is located here at UC Davis? The Robert Mondavi Institute (RMI) for Wine and Food Science has a pilot brewery and teaching/research winery that offers specialized industry training, research opportunities, and real-world application experience. Join this tour to see the innovative ways that RMI is transforming brewing and fermentation systems.

Join us at the UC Tech Awards Ceremony to recognize the achievements of fellow UC colleagues creating high-impact technology initiatives that drive digital transformation! This is a great opportunity to network, learn, and get inspiration from the community about ways to advance the UC’s mission of teaching, research, public service, patient care, and business operations.

Where: UC Davis Mondavi Center’s Vanderhoef Theatre

Bring your lederhosen or dirndl and get ready to dance to authentic German music and more! Performing with an accordion, tuba, clarinet/sax, trumpet, and drums, the Crackerjack Polka band will set a lively mood to celebrate Day 2 of UC Tech.

Where: UC Davis Mondavi Center’s Jackson Hall

Founded in 2020, this all-female Mariachi ensemble celebrates the rich tradition of Mariachi music across Northern California. With collaborations featuring renowned artists like Los Tigres Del Norte and appearances on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Mariachi Bonitas de Dinorah are artists of musical excellence who will close out Day 2 of UC Tech.

Where: UC Davis Mondavi Center Porch (outdoors, near main entrance)

“Bakuhatsu” translates to “explosion,” and that’s the perfect word to describe the high-energy, enthusiastic performance you can expect from Bakuhatsu Taiko Dan: a student-run Japanese cultural drumming group at UC Davis founded in 2001! They are dedicated to spreading the knowledge, enjoyment, and explosive passion of Japanese American TAIKO by educating and entertaining the greater community.
